I talk quite a bit about the telling of ghost stories at Christmas. This is a tradition that I want to see revived. One thing I do is write a Christmas story every year and some are ghost stories.

Because the tradition was most popular in the Victorian era, most of the stories are now in the public domain, most of which are in Project Gutenberg.

If you like your stories in book format, check out this book from Valancourt press. It collects many ghost stories of the time in a nice volume.

Now, these are ghost stories many today would be used to. They are more about the suspense rather than monsters under the bed or jump scares around the corner. They have their own charm to them.

If you aren’t sure, check out the stories at Project Gutenberg. But if you’re looking for something to pick up and revive the old tradition, check this one out.
